Selected third overall in the 2018 NFL Draft by the New York Jets, Darnold is authoring his most successful season yet. He’s led the Vikings to an 8-2 start, already eclipsing his previous season high in QB wins (7 with the 2019 Jets).
Darnold’s matched his career high with 19 touchdowns (also in 2019) while throwing for 2,387 passing yards and a career-best 67.9 completion percentage. Interceptions have been an issue, as he has tossed 10 this year and threw five combined in Weeks 9-10.
However, Darnold is coming off a 23-13 win against the Tennessee Titans in which he threw for 246 yards, two TDs and no picks.
He’ll play the Bears on Sunday for just the second time in his career. His first occasion came in Week 8 of his rookie season, completing 14 of 29 passes for 153 yards, a TD and no picks in a 24-10 loss with the Jets.
Darnold, as he’s done all season, will look to change his past fortune when Minnesota kicks off against host Chicago at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
