There is no magic money tree. The vast majority of us have to work for a living. Even the 9-5 means a large chunk of our waking hours are spent at work. How about making a change so your job keeps you fit as well as earns you money?
Here are some ideas for jobs that will ensure that you stay active, both indoors and out.
1. BECOME A FITNESS INSTRUCTOR
If you love being at the gym, why not turn it from recreation to work? Teaching fitness classes or staffing the weights room is a great way to pass on your love of fitness, and to inspire beginners as well as experts. Fitness instructors generally do the workout with the class, so this one will definitely keep you in shape.
There is also plenty of scope for inspiring the next generation. From PE teacher to specialised sports coach, there is always demand for those who work well with children.
2. PERSONAL TRAINER
This is the next step from leading a class, although plenty of trainers enjoy doing both. As well as your gym instructor qualifications, you will need to upgrade to a personal trainer qualification. You will operate as your own boss, and will work some unsocial hours to meet up with your clients.
3. POST OR COURIER DELIVERY
The UK is almost unique in its doorstep post delivery system. Postmen and postwomen are up with the lark, and even those delivering by van will clock up the miles up and down driveways and streets. Competent and brave cyclists could also consider being bike couriers. Check out the calf muscles on your passing postperson!
From self-employed odd-job person to full-timer at a park or a stately home, gardeners get lots of fresh air and exercise. Spending your days among plants and flowers has to be one of the lowest-stress jobs there is. The job will keep you fit and strong but don’t forget those warm ups, especially on colder days.
